New Restrictions Introduced by the Serbian Government

Today the Serbian Government introduced new restrictive measures for the purpose of prevention of spreading coronavirus COVID-19. After the closing of Belgrade Airport Nikola Tesla which happened in the morning, at the evening‘s press conference, Serbian President Mr. Aleksandar Vucic has announced new restrictive measures and emphasized that in the next couple of days it can be expected that even more restrictive measures will be imposed in comparison to those announced today.

The new measures which have been imposed to citizens are, as follows:

  • starting from March 20, 2020 (at 08.00 am) all cross-borders shall be closed for passengers’ traffic – air, road, railway and water and
  • starting from March 20, 2020 (at 12.00) all bus and railway traffic between the cities at the territory of Serbia shall be cancelled and citizens would be able to travel between two cities only by using private cars.

The President has emphasized that the duration of so called “police hour” (curfew) will be extended in the next days and that Serbian citizens who came back to Serbia from abroad will be very strictly monitored in respect to complying with the obligation of self-isolation.

According to the President’s words, up to now there are 103 persons in Serbia infected by COVID-19 and in the next days it is expected the progressive increase of number of infected persons, so the discipline of citizens is of crucial importance.
