Chinese investment in Serbia: Zemun-Borca bridge

China Bridge and Road Corporation will begin the construction of the Serbian-Chinese Friendship Bridge, which will connect Belgrade’s municipalities Zemun and Borca. The completion deadline is three years. The bridge will be 1,507 m long and will be part of the ring road around Belgrade. The completion of the project is expected by the end of 2014.

The Zemun-Borca bridge is the first infrastructure project within the framework of the agreement between the Serbian and Chinese governments. The construction of the bridge worth 170 million euros is a significant step for Chinese investments not only in Serbia but also in the whole region of South East Europe. The bridge is of crucial importance because it will allow Belgrade to spread to the other side of Danube where new households will be built.

The construction of the Serbian-Chinese Friendship Bridge represents a new model of infrastructure development in Serbia and represents a door to further Chinese investments to Serbia and Europe.
